Vineyards

We sourced our 2024 Chardonnay grapes from the Rodgers Creek Vineyard in the Sonoma Coast AVA. Our steep, terraced blocks in Rodgers Creek are about 600 feet above sea level, well positioned to get plenty of afternoon wind and sun. Summer mornings are cool and usually sport a blanket of Pacific fog. By late-afternoon, breezes pick up again and eventually carry in more fog at night. It’s the “wind tunnel” created by the Estero lowlands and surrounding low hills that really distinguishes the area from neighboring regions. Most importantly for us, the Pacific wind and fog combine with more temperate inland weather to keep fruit on the vine long into the season. This creates excellent phenolic ripeness at harvest, with low-to-moderate sugar levels, ideal acidity and terrific aromatic and flavor characters.

Jeb Dunnuck:  94 Points

  • Reviewer Notes:  The 2023 Chardonnay Sonoma Coast reveals gorgeous aromatics of crushed citrus, white flowers, blanched almonds, and hints of oyster shell. It’s medium-bodied and has a pure, focused mouthfeel with solid mid-palate depth and concentration, integrated acidity, and outstanding length. It’s an impressive effort that I love today, and it will drink beautifully over the coming 8-10 years.

Decanter  93 Points

  • Reviewer Notes:  From the iconic Rodgers Creek Vineyard, where vines are rooted on steep slopes at around 183 metres above sea level and exposed to pounding Pacific wind and fog, this wine shows richly textured suppleness and the fleshiness of red Gravenstein apple and poached pear, laced with vanilla and layered with French pastry notes. Warm spices add intrigue, while the acidity carries a saline character, balanced by cooler wet slate and chalky minerality on the long, medium-bodied finish.

James Suckling  93 Points

  • Reviewer Notes: Aromas of lemon curd, white peaches, pears, almonds and wet stones. The palate is textured and balanced, with bright acidity and nerve, showing a strong core of fruit that carries through to a long, refined finish.
  • Drinking Window:  Drink or hold.
