VINEYARDS
We sourced fruit for this opulent Cabernet Sauvignon from one of the most historic and sought-after properties in the New World, Beckstoffer’s Georges III Vineyard in Rutherford. Georges III was originally owned and planted by Thomas Rutherford in Napa Valley in 1895 and graces us each year with wines that are rich and full-bodied with notes of black currant, cedar and cherry, and the earthiness associated with Rutherford Dust. The 2020 Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon bouquet boasts mocha, caramel, and wild berries. On the palate, dark fruits, vanilla bean, and spice unfold in classic full-bodied style. Its broad mouthfeel gives way to a complex palate that is already approachable, but maintains acidity and tannin to age with grace.

- Fermentation Details: he grapes were harvested on September 15, 2023, then underwent a four-day cold soak, 11-day primary fermentation, 13-day extended maceration, and malolactic fermentation in barrels

- Reviewer’s Comments: Those with a passing knowledge of Napa Valley’s grape-growing history can probably deduce the origin of Oleandri’s 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford from the breadcrumbs left behind on the back label or the winery’s website. Scents of pencil shavings accent cherries and dusty earth on the nose, while the medium- to full-bodied palate is silky-smooth but also firm and structured, with plenty of dusty tannins evident on the lingering finish. Give it another five years or so to round into form, then drink it over the following decade or so.

- Reviewer’s Comments: Very much in the style of the vintage with its fresh, focused, yet still concentrated character, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford offers pretty red and black fruits, medium body, and complex notes of spice and dried herbs with integrated oak and outstanding length.
